The Vi Peel is designed to be suitable for all skin types. This new peel reverses the effects of sun damage, environmental factors and age to restore your skin’s natural beauty. The peel produces more youthful looking skin and the process is generally painless. The Vi Peel is also suitable for the eye area, chest, hands, arms and back. Improve tone, texture, clarity, pore size, soften lines and wrinkles, stimulate collagen production and clear acne conditions.
The peel is typically painless, but some individuals with sensitive skin may experience a slight stinging sensation that can be controlled by using a fan during the application process. The treatment takes up to 20 minutes maximum, and no skin preparation products are necessary. There is very little down time required after the peel. Healing time is minimal, and results are seen even within one week of the treatment.
Levulan Kerastick is a topical solution using blue light illumination to treat actinic keratosis of the face or scalp. Actinic keratoses (AKs) are rough textured, dry, scaly patches on the skin from sun exposure that can lead to skin cancer. The combination of the topical solution and light therapy makes Levulan very effective light-activated drug therapy.
Almost five million Americans live with these lesions, but leave them untreated. It is estimated that about 40% of squamous cell carcinomas begin as AKs. The American Cancer Society, The Skin Cancer Foundation and the American Academy of Dermatology all recommend people with AK to seek treatment right away. If left untreated, squamous cells may become larger, move deeper into the skin and spread to various parts of the body.
The first step in the Levulan PDT system includes the topical solution application using the Levulan Kerastick, which contains aminolevulinic acid HCI. This solution makes the AKs more sensitive to light. Next, a special blue light is applied that destroys the AKs. During the second step, some patients feel stinging and/or burning in the treated areas. This reaction improves immediately after treatment and ends within 24 hours of treatment. A small number of patients may experience temporary reddening and swelling of the surrounding skin.
